Jehan Sadat, the widow of the assassinated Egyptian president Anwar Sadat, the first Arab leader to make peace with Israel, died Friday in Egypt, reported the state news agency MENA. I was 87 years old.

Jehan was born in August 1933 in Cairo, of a bourgeois father and a British mother. In 1949 he married Anwar Sadat, an army officer who became president of the country from 1970 until his assassination in 1981.
