Jennifer Arias discusses photos circulating on social media and talks about her family

Last Tuesday, July 20, House representatives elected the new board of directors of the last legislature which headed Jennifer Arias Falla of the Democratic Center, whose appointment still gives rise to all kinds of questions and criticism.

As has happened in the past few hours due to some photographs the reporter posted Maria jimena duzan on her Twitter account, and in which the MP is seen in a swimsuit and posing with a gun in her hand.

“This photo of the new Speaker of the House of Representatives Jennifer Arias should be explained in detail. I looked for it to explain it to myself but it was not possible. Her press secretary suggested to me that it was a photo for a Halloween party “, asked the reporter, yes, taking several criticisms.

In a conversation with Blu Radio, the representative referred to these photos and regretted being disqualified for the House Presidency due to her past as a model and Miss Meta: “That can’t be the message we send to girls (…) So a girl can’t be a model or a queen and also wants to be a scientist.”

He also said this photo was around 16-20 years old and he doesn’t remember the context. “I don’t even know where they got it from because I don’t have it (…) a long time ago I was Miss Meta and it was in a photography studio trying on costumes from Halloween but I don’t remember the context of the photo “he explained.

But on the show, Arias also opened up about her family, which was another reason she received heavy criticism. Her brother, for example, was convicted of drug trafficking. In view of this, the representative replied: “In Colombia, around 110,000 people have been detained over the past 10 years (…) Can we tell these people that their relatives cannot claim a position elected by the people? (…) I feel that we have to send a different message “.

And I add: “We have to accept that people can make mistakes and not judge their families for that. and tell them that they cannot aspire to a different life ”.

Fundación Pares documented on the MP that her father is a powerful Meta entrepreneur who was convicted of murder in 1993. Arias was also the campaign coordinator for the presidency of Iván Duque in the departments of Vaupés and Guaviare, strengthening a relationship between Duque and Uribe with businessmen in the aviation sector in Los Llanos who are said to be linked to activities related to drug trafficking. Two pilots from the Democratic Center campaign appeared to be involved in anti-drug operations: one in Guatemala and the other in Providencia., reports Pairs.

From this company were the pilots Samuel David Niño Cataño and Juan Camilo Cadena, who carried out official flights for the Democratic Center campaign, between February and May 2018, in which they had as passengers, among other leaders, the current President Iván Duque, former Senator Álvaro Uribe Vélez, Jennifer Arias herself, former MP Nohora Stella Tovar, late Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo and former Colombian Ambassador to the United States Francisco Santos.
