A birthday party ended with a joke on the guests when a young man put marijuana on the cake without anyone knowing it. According to one of 3AW's guests, there were people under the age of 80 who were very upset and had to be "hospitalized for an overdose".

Claire, one of the 50-year-old guests who was found at the hospital, said: "Everyone was having a good time and for dessert, they served the cake with fruit, cream and chocolate chips ".

"It turned out chocolate chips contained marijuana," he added.

Claire said another guest at the party had filled the chocolate cake with cannabis because "she thought it would encourage family celebration".

"The effect has not been immediate, and I know now that it's usually normal for cannabis-based foods," he said. "After an hour, I had a swollen throat and dizziness, and three hours later, four family members and I were hospitalized for an overdose."

Claire explained: "Apparently, I am allergic to cannabis, or anything, at this high dose."

The woman stated that she had received adrenaline and that she had been treated for anaphylaxis, while other clients had suffered "very unpleasant" vomiting attacks. His parents, aged about 80, were also affected by cannabis.

"One had vomiting and the other had an extremely high heart rate," he said. "We were all terrified because for a few hours we did not know what was happening, the guests fainted … not knowing we were really drugged," he recalls.

The 20-year-old admitted his guilt and said he received chocolate from a "partner who buys it in the United States".

Claire said that the effect of marijuana had lasted at least three days and that it had forced them to take time off work to fully recover.

"It's very unusual to have such serious reactions, no one has eaten so much chocolate, it was just sprinkled on the cake," he closed.
