It seemed certain that former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, would have something to say about his longtime rival, Daniel Cormier, at the time. UFC 226. And earlier than late
Jones (22-1 MMA, 16-1 UFC), finally declared Monday, but it was not to congratulate or hit Cormier (21-1 MMA, 10- 1 UFC), who had the opportunity that he was supposed to get before another drug test turned his career upside down.
Jones puts his future in the hands of his faith ( via Twitter )
Just keep in mind that life is a journey and not a race. If it's in God's will that I'm still here and in good health, please believe that there will be many more fights to come. Let's not forget that I'm still the youngest in the top 5 at HW & LHW @UniqueMazique ???
Exactly how Jones, 30, calculated his ranking in the heavyweight division is not clear. In addition, there are two younger fighters in the US heavyweight and promotional rankings – No. 5 Curtis Blaydes is 27 and Alexander Volkov is 29.
But statistics aside, Jones' claim probably has something to do with twice beating the man who now holds the UFC title in the big-league division. Jones remains the 1st light heavyweight fighter and number 2 in the book-to-book list.
But until USADA, the UFC's anti-doping partner, announces a resolution to its second alleged anti-doping offense, Jones can not do much to support his figures. A positive drug test for the steroid turabinol prompted the UFC to strip him of the lightweight title and restore Cormier as champion after a knockout victory a year ago at UFC 214. Cormier defended the belt before announcing his conquest of the title held by Miocic
In the head-on map of Saturday's overlay, Miocic smothered Cormier early and took down several big shots. But Cormier closed the distance and hit Miocic with a right hook to claim the UFC heavyweight title. With this victory, Cormier became the second fighter of the UFC to hold two titles at the same time.
For the moment, Jones is silent on this success. Asked by a fan for his reaction, he wished a good Monday to the community "MMM"
The duration of this serenity is the question of the day. Cormier said that he did not need to fight Jones to cement his legacy before a planned retirement in March 2019. And that is Cormier who is fighting Brock Lesnar, l? man that Jones called after his victory at UFC 214
keep silent for that.
