Juan Guaidó demanded guarantees for the holding of free and fair elections on November 21 in Venezuela

The Acting President of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, demanded that there be guarantees for “free and fair” regional elections in the country on November 21.

The Venezuelan opposition has decided to tackle the dictatorship again in an electoral race. Following the announcement of the decision, the leader spoke in favor of the just conditions which allow them to leave the regime.

“The conditions for free and fair elections must be consolidated. Those who decided to participate and those who did not fight for liberation and democracy, to get out of the tragedy; on the street or in Mexico. We are fighting for conditions to get out of dictatorship, ”added Guaidó in a series of messages released through his Twitter account.

Guaidó thus responded to the Venezuelan dictator, who a few hours earlier, he had congratulated the Unitary Platform of Venezuela in a mocking tone, which brings together the main opposition parties in the country, for their decision to participate in the regional and municipal elections in November.

“I am going to sit in my armchair, with the television on (…) to see Guaidó vote on November 21 and there I will applaud because we have succeeded in including it in democracy, ”Maduro said sarcastically in an act that took place on Tuesday.

In front of the dictator’s ironic messages, the president in charge asked for seriousness in his actions and criticized him for the lack of electoral guarantees, alluding to the talks taking place in Mexico between the regime and the opposition.

Venezuela’s unitary platform mentioned the talks in Mexico as the main reason for their decision to participate in the elections, which aims to “motivate the Venezuelan people to be part of this episode of struggle,” according to a statement released by the group.

Opponents assumed that dialogue with the regime aims “for a peaceful and negotiated solution”, but that the elections will not be “fair or conventional”.

The opposition group had hesitated to participate in the electoral nomination, being divided into two blocks. One, led by Henrique Capriles, was more favorable to dialogue with the regime, and the other, led by Guaidó, was more reluctant.

The second meeting between the dictatorship and the Venezuelan opposition in Mexico City will take place this Friday, September 3. The dialogue is mediated by Norway and has the Netherlands as a companion country of the opposition and Russia of the Venezuelan regime. In addition, a group of friendly countries has been created to support this dialogue.
