Juan Guaidó: "There are more and more Venezuelans in the armed forces who wish to participate in the reconstruction"

The president in charge of Venezuela, Juan GuaidóHe said on Tuesday that "There are more and more Venezuelans in the armed forces who want to participate in the reconstruction" of the country and that the failure of the April 30 uprising was due "to fear" which generates Maduro's dictatorship.

Interviewed by Fernando del Rincón in CNN in Spanish, the acting president denied that the final phase of the so-called "Operation Freedom" was advanced earlier than planned.

"The armed forces have clearly expressed their dissatisfaction. A large group of the army, army and intelligence services made it clear that there needed to be a change in Venezuela, Guaidó said that day. "At that time, the patriotic soldiers sided with the Constitution that says there is a usurpation."

The president of the National Assembly also said that several senior commanders of the army and Chavez who had promised to participate in the uprising did not finally do so because the Chavez dictatorship "harbad, generate fear". According to Guaidó, in his attempted uprising, he would have increased his support for the opposition. For its part, Guaidó refused to give details on alleged discussions with the Minister of Defense. Vladimir Padrino López and the president of the Supreme Court Maikel Jose Morenoas badured the US National Security Advisor John Bolton. However, he revealed that he had had conversations "with many civilian and military officials ". "We will continue to talk with them because the role of the president in charge is to bring the country together, we insist in all respects," he said.

In another part of the interview, Guaidó talked about the guarantees offered to those who had pledged to participate in "Operation Freedom".

"What we could accomplish is the construction of a transition in which human rights are respected, the rule of law, the fundamental guarantees of citizens, which guarantee a better country. That's what we talked about with all sectors: citizens, unions and the military who are unhappy and want to take a step in the reconstruction of Venezuela. The first thing we call is the civic conscience, the family, how we are going to live in Venezuela. We show it with specific laws and international support, "he said.
