The head of Parliament and proclaimed President of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, dI say this Sunday that he has asked several banks in the world to "protect" the badets that the country has deposited in these institutions, in order to prevent the Maduro regime from using the resources.
"We have extended this application to countries around the world (…), as well as to institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Bank of England (and) International Transaction Bank" , Guaidó said in a message broadcast through his social networks.
"We will not allow them to continue stealing the people of Venezuela", he added.
Guaidó also said that the execution of this measure will come "accompanied" the progressive use of resources by the interim government that has installed and chairs the South American country since last Wednesday.
The regime of Nicolás Maduro launched a few months ago a process of withdrawal of 31 tons of gold – equivalent to $ 1,200 million – of the Bank of Englandin the midst of the political, economic and social crisis in Venezuela.
Guaidó did not specifically mention these resourcesalthough he said that whatever it manages to control will serve to mitigate the effects of the humanitarian crisis in the country, and that the Maduro regime denies.
Political tension in Venezuela soared last Wednesday, when Guaidó swore before hundreds of thousands of supporters the powers of the executive before the alleged "usurpation" which, according to her, would have made Maduro a president.
The chavist leader triumphed in last May's elections, to which most of the opposition did not appear because it was considered fraudulent.
For him, Anti-Chavez says that "usurps" the presidency, considering that his second six-year term is "illegitimate" and, therefore, the executive falls under the authority of Parliament until the convening of new elections, according to the interpretation that they make of several articles of the Magna Carta.
