July was the hottest month in the history of the planet

NOAA released the file, warning that it is a “unenviable distinction” which could increase global anxiety about climate change. “In this case, the first place is the worst place to be”, the NOAA administrator said, Rick spinrad. “July is generally the hottest month of the year in the world, but July 2021 surpassed itself as the hottest month on record,” he added.

He also added that the record adds to the worrying path that climate change has charted for the world.

According to NOAA, the combined global temperature of the ocean and land surface was about 7 degrees Celsius above the 20th century average. Which makes July the hottest month since logging began 142 years ago.

In the northern hemisphere, the Earth’s surface temperature was the highest on record in July: 13 degrees Celsius above average, surpassing the previous record set in 2012. For its part, Asia had its hottest July on record and Europe its second hottest.

The administration’s press release included a collage of photos depicting the dire effects of climate change, including floods, heat waves, droughts, hurricanes and wildfires.

The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, evaluated the results as “red code for humanity” and says that “the alarms are deafening and the evidence is irrefutable”
