Key day for Castagnino's expansion project

Today will be an important starting point for a much anticipated work by Rosario. Will, at 11 am, be opened the envelopes of the call for tenders for the enlargement of the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts, Juan Bautista Castagnino, which includes the construction of two new blocks space that will be annexed to the existing building, reaching an area of ​​5,857 square meters, which will allow you to host samples of international level. The official ceremony will be held at the museum's headquarters, Avenue Pellegrini 2202.

This initial phase has a budget of 101,722,386.98 pesos, will be funded by the provincial government and includes the executive project of the municipality. This phase covers the excavation, extraction and replacement of plant species, as well as the execution of the reinforced concrete structure of the two units, one for the expansion of the museum and another for cultural reasons.

It is worth mentioning that the museum currently has an area of ​​2,246 square meters and that, along with the extension work, an additional 3,311 square meters will be added for technical uses, exhibition halls, libraries and cultural spaces. .

The duration of this stage will be 10 months and, according to officials of the team of architects winners of the contest, Pablo Carballo, Maricruz Errasti, Juan Pablo Acotto, Mauro Barrio and Siegfried Stieger, "the works will put in value the historical heritage of the existing building, through an architectural intervention that wisely interacts with the pre-existing space and the public space in a contemporary way, knowing that the future building will also be part of the history of the architectural heritage of Rosario ".

For its part, Pablo Abalos, Secretary for Municipal Planning, said that "with this intervention, the Museum of Fine Arts will double its area, qualify the public space, improve its urban environment and become the best museum in the country according to international standards and safety and conservation requirements ".

In this context, he also stressed that "it will be a globally competitive museum, it will be able to receive samples of the first level, and it will be the second largest museum, just behind the National Museum of Fine Arts" .

As previously stated, this first step will not affect the normal operation of the museum.
