Consternation in Russia over a case of abuse of minors which ended in the death of the assailant. It is about a man who, through a video, found out that his best friend had raped his eight year old daughter, after the bad news he killed him, but before he made him dig his own grave.

The protagonists of this horrific and tragic story are Vyacheslav M, a 34-year-old factory worker, who was drinking with his old friend Oleg Sviridov, 32, when he saw the horrific images on Sviridov’s phone. He immediately confronted him, but escaped before he could reach him.

Sviridov had taken care of the girl on several occasions and allegedly sexually assaulted her on several occasions. Following the complaint, the police launched a manhunt against Sviridov, but the angry father found him first and allegedly stabbed him to death. According to some reports, Vyacheslav issued an ultimatum to his friend: surrender to the police and confess, or kill himself. But later that night, his father took him to a nearby forest with a shovel, his wife confessed.

Vyacheslave admitted to stabbing in the makeshift grave in the forest, but told investigators Sviridov accidentally fell on the gun and committed suicide. He is now under house arrest pending a murder investigation and faces 15 years in prison if convicted.

Criminal proceedings have also been opened for the sexual abuse of three children filmed on Sviridov’s cell phone. Police sources said the deceased’s phone contained other videos showing the rape of other girls in the town, aged six and 11. Videos indicate that the deceased suspect had abused children for five years before Vyacheslav discovered the footage on his phone.

Sviridov’s mother said that her son had often looked after Vyacheslav’s children and the two had been friends for a long time: “I don’t know how it happened. He must have been drunk.
