Lacunza and Sandleris travel to the United States to attend IMF and World Bank meetings

The Minister of Finance, Hernán Lacunzaand the president of the central bank, Guido Sandleris, will participate this week in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washington, DC United States.

An official meeting of the two leaders with the new Executive Director of the Fund is scheduled for Friday, Kristalina Georgievaand with the number two of the body, David Lipton.

Lacunza will resume in this context the dialogue with the MFIs to advance in negotiations for the $ 5.4 billion disbursement of the stand-by loan, although it will only be released once the results of the Sunday 27 elections are known.

This will be the second meeting that Lacunza will hold with the new IMF authorities after a brief informal meeting in September, during which the Minister welcomed the new Director General.

The annual meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and of MFIs they bring together central bank authorities, finance and development ministers and private sector leaders.

The Lacunza and Sandleris agenda will begin Thursday with a meeting of G20 ministers and central bank presidents, followed by various investor interviews. The Deputy Minister of Finance will integrate the delegation, Sebastian Katz and the secretaries of finance, Santiago Bausili and treasure, Rodrigo Pena.

The second vice-president, Verónica Rappoport, and the head of strategy and communication, Mauro Alessandro, will go through the Central Bank.

The intention is to hold working meetings with the Fund's Western Hemisphere Director, Alejandro Werner, and with the Head of Mission in Buenos Aires, Roberto Cardarelli.

According to a report on the economic situation of the World Bank in Latin America, the Argentine economy will experience a contraction of 3.1% this year and a 1.2% drop in 2020.
