Macri decided not to move the holidays but set a month off in August to organize a long weekend. Who works and who does not work

EAugust 17, date considered a holiday for the pbad of General Jose de San Martín, this year falls Saturday and will not go to 19.

However, the government of Mauricio Macri has established that Monday would be a day off for tourism purposes.

So for some, the weekend will be long. Why not for everyone? Because it's up to every private sector employer to work regularly or not.

Now, employees in national, provincial and municipal governments, such as bank and insurance employees, will have access to the day off.

In previous years, a bridge holiday had been established for similar cases, but with the amendment of the legislation the "non-working day for tourism purposes" was determined, so that in each case the companies defined how they applied measurement.

According to the Law on Contracts, people who have to work on non-working days will not receive the additional remuneration usually received in case of leave. Therefore, the day must be paid normally and not double.

"Holidays, the same legal rules apply only on Sunday," so "if you are working, you will be rewarded with 100% more than the usual pay".

However, on non-working days, "the work will be optional for the employer", except in national, provincial and municipal public administrations. Those who work in these sectors, as well as in banks and insurance.

What's left of a long weekend in 2019?

Beyond 17, there are still two long weekends this year.

The next this month will be in October. Does the 12th, when we celebrate the Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity that also falls on Saturday, arrive with a holiday bridge that will be Monday 14th?

On November 20th, National Sovereignty Day is celebrated, but this year, the government has decided to bring it to Monday the 18th, thus generating the possibility of a few miniv holidays.
