The projectiles were identified as 9mm Flobert-type pellets.
A letter to Pope Francis containing three pistol bullets and a message was intercepted in Italy at the Peschiera Borromeo post office near Milan, Corriere della Sera reports with reference to the carabinieri.
As detailed, the envelope contains on its front a barely legible pen inscription “The Pope – Vatican City – St. Peter’s Square in Rome” and was considered suspicious by postmen during the sorting process.
The riflemen, who seized the missive and opened an investigation, identified the projectiles as being 9mm Flobert-type pellets.
