The text also expresses its rejection of initiatives such as those of Uruguay and the EU, which convened a conference on Thursday, February 7 in Montevideo to tackle the Venezuelan crisis. These proposals "were manipulated by the Maduro regime, turning them into delaying tactics to perpetuate themselves in power." In fact, the Montevideo round is weakened before starting: on the American side, only four nations will come, no weight, and on the European side, nations that yesterday ignored Maduro and paid tribute to Guaidó. The Lima group "considers that any political or diplomatic initiative developed should aim at supporting the constitutional road map presented by the National Assembly and the President in charge, Juan Guaidó".
