The world is closely following the events in Venezuela after the failed uprising of support from opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who revived demonstrations against Nicolás Maduro's government. Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Panama and Peru are represented by their ministers. Brazil, Argentina, Guatemala, Paraguay, St. Lucia and Guyana sent vice-chancellors. The leader of the opposition Julio Borges is present on behalf of Guaidó.

The agenda is centered on the situation in Venezuela since Guaidó launched Tuesday "Operation Libertad", with which he asks the armed forces to withdraw his support to Maduro for to force his resignation.
At the meeting, it is expected that representatives of the Lima group will hold a videoconference with the US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, or Secretary of State for Continental Affairs, as well as a senior official of the European Union.
Created in January 2017 to boost the democracy by peaceful means in Venezuela, the Lima group will also reaffirm its confidence in the leadership of Guaidó, president of the Venezuelan parliament recognized as interim president by more than 50 countries.
The foreign ministers of Ruisa and the United States will also discuss the South American country. The meeting will take place next week in Finland.
