López Obrador on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day: in the middle of the war against the media "fifí" and a wave of assassinations of journalists

Mexico has become the most dangerous country to exercise journalism in 2019. No other country has recorded so many murders, not even in areas of military conflict.

Until now, the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who took office on 1 December, has killed four journalists, including three in 2019, according to the head of the organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) .

In an open confrontation with a sector of the press "conservative" or "fifí", the president of Mexico, AMLOHe recalled the commemoration, although he did not put aside his animosity with the media such as the newspaper Reforma.

"I welcome freedom of expression," he said at his conference on Friday morning.

López Obrador emphasized the advantages and disadvantages of "blessed social networks". He praised the benefits that contributed to the dissemination of the ideas and complained that they were a means for his critics to spread messages against him.

"Networks now allow everyone to participate and give their opinion. What has happened is that freedom of expression is commercialized. There are contracts and that includes robots, fake accounts and a total distortion, "he said.

"A conservative journalist takes something out and launches with this text the entire bot network. But there is one who is at the origin or who asks the initial questioning, which is part of his thought, his way of seeing things and his position towards us, "he added.

Last Thursday, López Obrador asked the press to recall his ideas about columnist Francisco Martín Moreno, whom he described in 2017 as a "bad writer", and to profit from the ignorance of the people.

Martin Moreno, critic of AMLO, retweeted during the week an invitation to walk the "green jackets", against the current president and quoted for Sunday.
