López Obrador’s controversial remarks against the middle class

After the federal elections (midterm) that took place in Mexico earlier this month, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador made statements with harsh criticism of the middle class.

“Yes, yes yes, there is a sector of the middle class which has always been like that, very individualistic, which turns its back on others, ambitious, that what they want is to be like those above and climb as high as possible without moral scruples without any kind, they are in favor of the one who does not deal does not advance, “he said.

The president said from the National Palace that it is incredible that the middle class supports corrupt governments.

In Mexico, being of the middle class means earning between 320 and 1,400 dollars a month and that represents only 4 out of 10 households. In the last records, they represented barely 36% of the population.

President López Obrador’s words have opened the breach even further, accusing the middle class of wanting to send their son to college and aspire to a better life.

The middle class is the engine that does not stop in Mexico and generates 80% of the country’s jobs, which is characterized by financial stability, with 2% annual inflation, so it is a sector that can access a car or send his children to college.
