Brazilian justice ordered this Wednesday the transfer of former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Curitibawhere he has been imprisoned since April 2018
, in a prison of San Pablo.
The badignment was ordered by Federal Judge Carolina Lebbos. The court decision does not state what the criminal destination will be or when. The transfer was allegedly requested by the Superintendent of the Brazilian Federal Police, Luciano Flores, who claimed that the arrest of Lula at the Curitiba headquarters had an impact on the routine of this distribution.
The former president's lawyer, Cristiano Zanin, has asked that "the Federal Supreme Court continue the habeas corpus lawsuit to annul this unjust arrest and the illegal shame imposed on former President Lula".
The court sentenced Lula for receiving bribes from the construction company of the OAS, specifically for the renovation of a triplex in Guarujá. Lula's defense alleged that the former president had never been in possession of the property and that the plaintiffs had lied to obtain benefits.
