Maduro fustigó to the European powers that demand elections in Venezuela | Chronic

The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, rejected to examine "an insolence"and"a utimatum"the request of Germany, Spain, France and the United Kingdom, among other European powers, to call general elections to overcome the crisis in the Caribbean country.

"Nobody can give us an ultimatum of this kind. If someone wants to leave the country, he can do it. Venezuela is not related to Europe. It's total insolence", sentenced in an interview with CNN Turk in Caracas and quoted by the EFE news agency.

"Once again, Europe is making a mistake about Venezuela. They consider our history as non-existent despite two hundred years of independence. We despise ourselves because we are south is insolentMaduro added that Spain, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, among other European countries, Saturday asked the Maduro government to hold early elections in a maximum delay of eight days.

They warned that if Maduro did not comply with what was requested, they will recognize the opponent as a legitimate authority of the Venezuelan state. Juan Guaidó, proclaimed "president in charge" by the National Assembly (Parliament), four days ago. The National Assembly, with a majority of opposition, proclaimed Guaidó invoking the Constitution and held that Maduro's last election at the polls was null and void.

While the United States and several countries in the region have recognized Guaidó almost immediately, the major European powers have reacted first with more caution and Saturday with the demand that Maduro convene elections.

"We will establish peace and we will continue to condemn these events, as we have done in the (UN) Security Council. All of these lies are the work of the United States. I am open to dialogueMaduro said according to the Turkish translation of the interview.

On Saturday, the European powers made clear their position to the United Nations Security Council, while the United States called on all countries to take a stand in this institutional crisis.

On the other hand, Russia and China, which are the only members of the United Nations with the right of veto in the Security Council, alongside the United States, France and the United Kingdom, have ratified their support for the Maduro government.
