Marisa Graham is the first advocate for children and adolescents

After more than 14 years, it has been defined who will occupy the post of Ombudsman for children and adolescentsLawyer Marisa Graham, a specialist in family law, will lead this bicameral commission and will be accompanied by lawyers Juan Hernández and Fabián Repetto.

Graham has held several positions in the governments of Néstor and Cristina Kirchner, has been an adviser to the Juvenile and Family Council, and has been director of children and adolescents in the Government of the City of Buenos Aires.

The indictment was sanctioned in 2005 by Law 26.061 but had been vacant since.

"I thank the bicameral committee very much. I am proud to have been meditated by ten women. I feel even better qualified to have been qualified by ten female partners. Also because they thought about a team so we could pbad site approval, "Graham said.

In early 2017, Childhood in Debt, a collective of non-governmental organizations, activated the elections by legalizing the problem. Thus, a bicameral commission composed of five deputies and an equal number of senators was formed. 63 candidates were presented for the examination.

In October 2018 there were 15 finalistsamong whom ten women and five men distinguished themselves. Among the candidates should be chosen towards the end of last year, but in the absence of agreement, the decision was postponed to Thursday.

According to statistics provided by the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA), half of the children are poor (48.1%). Starting this Thursday, they will have a person who defends their rights.
