The first patient with a non-terminal illness to undergo euthanasia in Colombia will be Martha Sepúlveda, a 51-year-old woman, born in the department of Antioquia, suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for almost three years.

Sepúlveda requested euthanasia on July 27, just four days after the Constitutional Court’s ruling. On August 6, he celebrated the acceptance and the date for his death proceedings has been set for October 10 at 7:30 a.m. in Colombia.
