The attack was allegedly committed this afternoon by seven armed men. The authorities believe that this could have been a clash between local drug traffickers.

At least eleven people were shot dead Sunday in a bar in Belém, capital of Pará, in northern Brazil, while another was injured, police said.

The events occurred in the Guamá neighborhood, when seven armed men arrived at a bar and began shooting, killing six women (including the bar owner) and five men, according to military police.

Another person was injured and is under the protection of the police. For the moment, his state of health is unknown.

The Homicide Division of the civilian police has opened an investigation to clarify the facts, although for the moment the motives of the crime are unknown. The press speculates that the murder could be a revenge for a fight between rival factions.

The district of Guamá is the most populated district of Belém. In March, he was one of seven countries that received reinforcements from the National Force to end the high crime rate in the city and its metropolitan area.

In 2017, a wave of badbadinations took place in Belém: 28 people died in just 24 hours after the murder of a military police officer.

A version of the investigators suggests that the shooting was reportedly the result of a dispute between criminal factions controlling drug trafficking in the region. The Pará civil police are investigating the reasons for the mbadacre, whose perpetrators have not yet been identified.
