Mauricio Macri and the OAS insist there was no coup in Bolivia | Former president charged with arms trafficking backed agency statement

Mauricio Macri, accused of collaborating in the coup d’état in Bolivia, with the illegal shipment of repressive weapons, not only does he ignore all the charges against him, but also, he insists that there has been no military advance to overthrow then-president Evo Morales.

“The systematic disqualification of Secretary General Luis Almagro is not a simple expression of disagreement with his management. It is a question of striking our organization, even of evoking the possibility of putting an end to it if it does not submit to a line of dissimulation of dictatorships already admitted or of governments which move towards authoritarianism ”, explains Briceño.

The Venezuelan representative’s statement came after the Bolivian government announced it would denounce Almagro for his actions in the 2019 coup. “We believe that he is the immediate author and responsible for the events which marked the deaths of many Bolivians in my country,” said Bolivian Minister of Justice Iván Lima Magne.

In recent weeks, the Bolivian government has gathered elements to move forward on the responsibility of the OAS Secretary General in the events. The Attorney General’s Office, with the collaboration of the Bisite Deep Tech Lab research group of the General Foundation of the University of Salamanca, concluded that It has been proven that there was no fraud in the 2019 election, as the OAS had denounced, with Almagro at the helm, and that was the excuse for the coup.

Since the inauguration of President Luis Arce, an investigation has been opened into the coup d’état by which Former de facto president Jeanine ñez, accused of genocide, has already been arrested, and even progress has been made in investigating the possible collaboration of the Argentine state during the government of Mauricio Macri.

The former president and leader of the PRO, denounced by the Argentine government and the Bolivian executive, is charged with smuggling aggravated by the sending of repressive material –at least 70,000 rubber bullets – which ended up in the hands of the armed forces and the Bolivian police, for the crackdown by the de facto government of Áñez on social protests.
