Mauricio Macri celebrated Guillermo Lasso’s triumph in Ecuador

With 97% of the votes counted, the former conservative banker Guillermo Lasso won this Sunday in the presidential election in Ecuador against leftist Andrés Arauz, the candidate of former president Rafael Correa, who admitted defeat.

“I will congratulate you on the electoral victory obtained today and I will show you our democratic convictions”Arauz said, referring to Lasso in a speech at his campaign center in Quito.

Reference of anti-Corréism, the candidate of the alliance of the right and the Social-Christian Party obtained 52.52% of the votes against 47.48% for Arauz, according to the site of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
