May resigns if Brexit agreement is approved | Chronic

The British Prime Minister, Theresa May, promised Wednesday to the legislators of his conservative party that he will leave office "before what I wanted" if in return he gets the Parliament approves his exit agreement from the European Union (EU).

"I am ready to leave this post sooner than I would have liked to do what is right for our country and our party"May said at a meeting with conservative parliamentarians, according to the BBC.

The Prime Minister added that he knew that the deputies "Tories" they did not want her to lead the next phase of the Brexit negotiations with the EU. "And I will not stop that", he said.

This is the first time that May proposes to withdraw to get the votes needed to approve the divorce agreement that she has negotiated with the EU, but who has already been rejected twice by the British Parliament.

"I know that we want a new approach – and a new leadership in the second phase of the Brexit negotiations, and I will not stop that."he remarked.

Before some 300 Conservative MPs, he said the party "must approve this agreement and comply with Brexit".

"I ask all present in this room to support the agreement so that we can fulfill our historic duty, fulfill the mandate of the British people and leave the European Union by a smooth and orderly exit", he added.
