Meeting in the Vatican: Alberto Fernández’s message that Fabiola Yañez brought to Pope Francis

ROMA.- The first lady, Fabiola Yañez, met again today with him dad Francisco, for the second time in a week, this time as part of an event of the Pontifical Foundation School met with which Santo Padre collaborates with others “First ladies” Latin American women, at the Roman headquarters of Palazzo San Calisto, in the district of Trastevere.

Unlike the official audience, with few smiles and very formal, which he gave last week to Alberto Fernandez and his entourage, while greeting Yañez, the Pope was warm. And she took the opportunity to send him a thank you message from her partner, which culminated last Friday in this capital in a European tour during which he requested support for the country’s negotiations with its international creditors and even met the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva.

Georgieva went to participate in a seminar at the Vatican in which the Minister of the Economy also participated, Martin Guzman, and the secretary for strategic affairs, Gustavo Beliz, among others, such as former US Secretary of State John Kerry, with whom the President also spoke.

“[Alberto] He is very grateful, very grateful, he has done well and thanks him very much for everything he has done ”, Yáñez told the Pope while greeting him, when he also told her that she was “very happy to be” there.

Dressed in rigorous black and a matching chin strap, the first lady, who is the coordinator of the Alliance of Spouses of Heads of State and Representatives (ALMA), was part of the group of personalities who received the Pope – also wearing a chinstrap – in the room on the second floor of Palazzo San Calisto, a building belonging to the Vatican, where Scholas is based. There was also the Minister of Education of Italy, Patrizio Bianchi -who spoke to the Pope about his relationship with Rafaela, Santa Fe- and Health, Roberto Speranza.

With them, the Pontifical Foundation sealed an agreement allowing high school students in Italy to participate in an emotional health program, essential to emerge from the disastrous effects of isolation and distance education caused by the pandemic. In addition, the foundation’s global directors, José María del Corral and Enrique Palmeyro, who 20 years ago worked with the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Bergoglio, in neighborhood schools, the distant origin of what is today a global foundation.

Yañez, who is the coordinator of ALMA, was the only one in the group to attend a distant date for others due to the pandemic. She was seated in the front row, next to Spanish Cardinal Juan José Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona.
