MEPs expelled by the Maduro regime will try to enter Venezuela from Colombia

González Pons led the delegation of five MEPs, three Spanish, one Dutch and one Portuguese, from the European People's Party (EPP), to which the government of President Nicolás Maduro banned Sunday entry into the country.

The delegation was invited by Juan Guaidó, recognized president of Venezuela, by 50 countries. His goal was to meet with NGOs and try to visit the imprisoned opposition leader, Leopoldo López, explained González Pons.

González Pons has asked the European Union and Spain to give up the contact group of European and Latin American countries that promotes the presidential election as a peaceful solution to the crisis in Venezuela.

He also called on the EU to withdraw the credentials of Maduro ambbadadors accredited in European countries and to sanction his Chancellor Jorge Arriaza, who accused MEPs of attempting to travel to Venezuela "for of conspiracy ".
