Mexico has closed its airspace to planes Boeing models 737 MAX 8 and 9. This was confirmed in a statement from the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) of the country.

"EThe Mexican state took the decision to suspend, until further notice, all brands of air operations Boeing Models 737 MAX 8 and 9, for both domestic and international operations"the agency reported.

Mexico joined this decision to 50 other countries that have immobilized these aircraft after the accident of Ethiopian Airlines flight, in which 157 people died last Sunday, among them, a Mexican of Yucatec origin.

The determination of the DGAC implies immediate suspension of all national and international operations of these models.

The loss of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 in Ethiopia occurred just five months after plane crash in Jakarta(Indonesia), where 189 pbadengers traveling on board also lost a 737 MAX 8.

The uncertainty generated by these two fatal accidents and the complaints of two anonymous pilots who reported in 2018 model failures caused by the MCAS system led to rethink the safety of these aircraft.

"On the basis of the information available from the international aviation authorities, the Mexican authorities consider it necessary to apply measures guaranteeing security and trust of users who use planes in our airspace, "added the DGAC in its statement.

On Wednesday morning, the multinational Boeing Company recommended to the US Federal Aviation Administration to retain the global fleet of these models as a precautionary measure. A total of 68 airlines have these aircraft in the world.

In the Aztec country, there are six Boeing 737 MAX 8s in total.all are operated by Aeromexico and they remain on earth since Monday.

According to information provided by the Mexican aeronautical authorities, the decision to prohibit the crossing of these flights in the airspace of the country will be maintained for an indefinite period. to guarantee the confidence of travelers.

They explained that they would be attentive to the follow-up to the technical indications issued by both the manufacturer and the US aeronautical authorities.
