Martinez, who just came back being 30, batting .295 / .358 / .464 (123 OPS +) this season, and for his career, he has an OPS + of 129 in 699 appearances. He may strike, and he is not eligible for the free agency until after the 2022 season. What he can not really do, is the field. He is one of the worst baseball defensive baseball players, and even though he may be less responsible outside the field, the Cardinals already have a crowded outdoor field. Because Martinez is a bad choice on the St. Louis list, they can move it before the deadline, even if they do not commit to a total sale.

Kyle Gibson, a 30-year-old right-hander, has been a pleasant surprise for the Twins this season, while he has so far posted a better ERA in his career. 3.42 and confirmed a better K / BB ratio of 2.52.
