This is the fifth year increase applied by the tobacco companies, which had already updated their prices in January, February, March and May.
By an Afip decree, made official in early June, cigarette prices will have four annual updates: in January, April, July and October of each year, for which the variation will be taken into account. consumer price index (CPI) corresponding to the previous quarter. As a result, by 2018, a last update in October remains based on inflation for the previous three months.
In a press release, British American Tobacco reiterated its concerns about the growth of illegal trade in the country and the non-compliance with minimum tax payments by local tobacco companies.
