Mother and daughter, the killers of a young pregnant woman whose baby was torn from the belly

A mother and her daughter were charged on Thursday in Chicago, Illinois (USA), of first degree murder for death by strangulation of Marlen Ochoa-López, a 19-year-old woman with 9 months of pregnancy and whose baby was torn from her belly.

Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and her daughter Desiree, 24, they face charges of first degree murder for the death of the girl, who was due to give birth on May 5th. Her disappearance was reported on April 23, the same day she went to the home of the accused located in the southwest of the city.

Piotr Bobak, 41, and boyfriend of Clarissa, has been accused of helping to conceal a homicide.

As reported Chicago police at a press conference Thursday, the child confessed to the officers that she had helped her mother kill the victim, who was strangled with a coaxial cable found in a trash bin in the yard of the house and where they were also found this week, the mortal remains of Ochoa-Lopez

Until now, the authorities do not know the motivations of the murderers and consider the badumption that Clarisa Figueroa, who lost a child in 2017, wanted to raise the newborn.

Ochoa-Lopez, married and father of a three-year-old son, was last seen on April 23rd. He was leaving the Alternative Youth Youth High School in the neighborhood of Villita (south of the city), with address to the home of the accused, where I had already gone before.

That day, he had to go get his son to daycare, but he was never there.

According to police and relatives, the victim had met his killers through a group of Facebook, now closed, whose members support the pregnant mothers.

According to deputy chief of Chicago Police Detectives Brendan Deenihan, the victim went to Clarissa Figueroa's home to pick up clothes and a baby car, and once inside the baby kidnapped from his belly.

Shortly after, according to the police investigation, Clarisa Figueroa called the emergency number 911 to warn that the newborn was having difficulty breathing, after which he was transported to critical condition at a nearby hospital where he is in intensive care and suffering from brain damage.

Desiree Figueroa She told the officers that her mother had given birth to the baby, but DNA testing later confirmed that the newborn was the victim's son and her husband, Yovani López.

The agents proceeded this week to interrogate the women and examine the house, and discovered the car of Ochoa-Lopez parked nearby.

Similarly, inside the house were found remains of blood, burned clothes and containers containing cleaning fluid, as well as the body of the victim in a garbage can in the yard.

Authorities arrested the two women and two men.

The medical examiner's office confirmed Wednesday that the remains correspond to Marlen Ochoa-López, the same day her husband, 20, asked for justice for the death of the young woman and a vigil was held in a local church.
