Moise was shot dead by a Colombian mercenary commando hired by a Miami security company. A total of 18 former Colombian soldiers and two Haitian and American citizens were arrested, while it is estimated that there are five other people on the run. Three other Colombians died.

Henry was appointed Prime Minister two days before Moise’s death, pBut he was not invested in the post, and last Saturday he received express support from the United Nations and a group of foreign powers to form a government.
The handover will take place on Tuesday and Claude Joseph should remain in the new government led by Henry, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, according to what the outgoing Prime Minister told the newspaper The Nouvelliste.
Last Saturday the Heart Group, group of the most influential ambassadors of Port Prince, showed his explicit support for Henry as Prime Minister.
It’s a statement, This group called for the formation of a consensual and inclusive government and “strongly” encouraged Henry to continue “the mission entrusted to him of forming said government.”.
The Core Group is made up of ambassadors from United States, France, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Canada and European Union, as well as the representatives in Haiti of the United Nations and of the Organization of American States (OAS).
Moise’s death raised an inheritance issue, having intervened towards the end of his mandate, the Constitution provides that Parliament must elect an interim head of state to end the presidential term.
This was impossible because the Parliament is inoperative since January 2020 due to postponement of the legislative elections of 2019.
Claude Joseph, who had held the post of interim prime minister since last April, remained in power after Moise’s death, since Ariel Henry could not be invested in this post, although he was officially appointed by decree published on July 5.
The change of power will occur at little days of National funeral of Moses, which will be held next Friday at Cap–Haitian, the most important city in the north of the country.
