Mystery: a Chilean woman went to Colombia to get married and disappeared

The difference in age did not matter. That's why on March 5, Amory Ojeda, a 51-year-old Chilean, traveled to Colombia to marry Juan Valderrama, his partner, a 28-year-old Colombian. But things did not go as planned. And at the end of March, he disappeared. The case is now surrounded by a mystery that has even allowed Colombian President Ivan Duque to intervene directly in this case.

Ojeda, a retired police officer, met Valderrama in 2015 in Chile. He worked as a waiter instead of his duties, the club of the Riflemen's NCOs, in the capital of the trans-Andean country. The relationship is consolidated despite the 23 years of difference that separate them.

At that time, the young Colombian went to live with Ojeda. Thus began a relationship that neither the two children of the wife nor the rest of the family accepted. Some time later, Valderrama returned to Colombia. The relationship with Amory, with whom he communicated via the Internet and Whatsapp, continued at a distance. But in October 2018, the man returned to Chile to pick up the policewoman. After that, the lady withdrew from the carabinieri and decided to pack her bags to leave for Santander, in northern Colombia, where she traveled the first days of March.

After arriving in Medellín, the couple moved into a car that the woman bought in Puerto Parra, in the state of Santander, to visit Valderrama's parents. After a few days, they went to Bucaramanga, where they intended to stay. Only five days have pbaded and the woman has disappeared.

The Chilean woman, during her first hours on Colombian lands, sent videos of her daily life to her family. But then the discs stopped coming. The family was worried and contacted Valderrama. His answer was that Amory had quarreled with him and was gone. He says that he looked for it and that he made the report but that he did not know anything else about it. The fear of the family lies in the fact that the young man murdered him in order to keep a large amount that his partner had asked for the forced removal of the Chilean police. "I think he's done away with it," his sister Alejandra Ojeda told the Nacional de Chile newspaper.

Police continue their interrogations and raids in the area where the Chilean registry was lost. Her family would be traveling to Colombia these days to support the investigations that would find Amory Ojeda.

Juan Guillermo Valderrama complained and the agents started the search. For him, she is simply "hidden somewhere". According to the young man, at dawn on March 29, the woman discovered that he was unfaithful and this sparked a discussion.
