NASA captured the "polar vortex" over the United States from space

Scientists have observed the displacement of colder areas of the central Canada vortex to the Midwestern United States. In addition, it has been recorded that the Great Lakes region, where Chicago, was the most affected by the climatic phenomenon. In this sense, the information collected by the researchers explains the current temperature of – 50 degrees in this city.

With AMSU (Advanced Microwave Sounding Equipment), a complementary instrument, AIRS has been able to detect infrared radiation and of microwave of Earth and provide a three-dimensional vision weather conditions.
