New guidelines from the Ministry of Health for vaccination against Covid

The publication is signed by the Ministry of Health and the Directorate for the Control of Immunopreventable Diseases. There are 46 pages in which the current recommendations are displayed.

According to the projection of INDEC (National Institute of Statistics and Censuses) for 2021, the estimated population aged 3 and over is 43,598,315.

In the case of the target population to be vaccinated, boys from 3 years old are officially included for the first time (taking into account that the campaign for this age group is launched next Tuesday).

It is also described that the dose to be administered to persons aged 3 to 11 years is the same as that used for the population aged 18 and over.

Priority people to receive vaccines are:

Due to the risk of serious illness, people over the age of 60 and citizens aged 3 to 59 years with risk factors.

By exposure and function, health and strategic personnel.

Due to the vulnerability, those who live in working-class neighborhoods, indigenous peoples, people deprived of their liberty, migrants and university professors.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

The data obtained so far is described as “suggesting that the benefits of receiving a Covid vaccine outweigh the potential risks of vaccination during pregnancy.”

People who are pregnant “have a higher risk of serious illness compared to those who are not, including the risk of hospitalization, intensive care or complications leading to death.”

So, the Ministry validates vaccination in pregnant or breastfeeding people once “the assessment of the risks and benefits by the treating professional and the wishes of the pregnant person has been carried out once the interview has been carried out”.

At the time of vaccination, pregnant people must present a vaccination prescription. They do not recommend performing pregnancy tests before vaccination or stopping breastfeeding.

Vaccine exchanges

The Ministry of Health establishes that people aged 12 and over can voluntarily opt for one of the following possibilities:

Sputnik component 1 can be placed as a second dose of AstraZéneca and Moderna. The suggested interval is 8 weeks between doses.

AstraZéneca can be combined with Moderna and Pfizer with an interval of 8 weeks between doses.

Pfizer with Moderna, 28 days apart. And Modern with Pfizer, with the same time between doses.

General intervals

Inactivated virus vaccines (Sinopharm): 4 weeks

Messenger RNA (Moderna and Pfizer): 4 weeks

Viral vector: AstraZéneca / Covishield and Sputnik V: 8 weeks

Vaccine after having had the Covid

Vaccination should be postponed until recovery from acute illness (in symptomatic individuals) and until clinical and epidemiological discharge criteria have been met.
