As happens in the cab of the harvesting machines, the cab of long-haul trucks has so much equipment and daily comfort like never before in the history of freight transport. A modern truck has practically become a department an environment or even two, with everything a person might need on board to get through several days of travel.

And this is precisely the reason, since for what the heavy transport industry is profitable, the most important thing is to arrive in the shortest possible time to destination, with the lowest cost that a land transfer means compared to the option of air transport.

This is why trucks offer so much comfort to their driver. For the number of continuous hours that the industry requires on the roads. The paradigm shift of Automobile industry in general, it generates a major turbulence in the heavy goods vehicle market, always present in the fuel diesel, your best ally compared to other energy options such as hydrogen and electricity.

Whereas in Switzerland and the United States, hydrogen begins to show that it can be an alternative free of polluting emissions, the big challenge for truck and battery manufacturers, is to find an autonomy that ensures the normal functioning of an industry, which in turn, will be more important when after 2030, at least in Europe, airways are prohibited on sections of up to 500 km in which there is the possibility for the train to travel from one point to another. The, the truck should be the alternative for the transport of loads, which the trains will not carry out.

Looking for a range of at least 500 kilometers, the truck Futuricum Electric FH has just set a new record to be recorded in the Guinness World Records, reaching a distance of 1,099 kilometers on a single charge. The event took place on the circuit Contidrom, the tire brand test track Continental, located nearby Hanover, Germany.

To reach this mark, the truck had to finish 392 laps of the 2.8 km oval, and delayed 23 hours drive at an average speed of 50 km / h, speed chosen to be “a realistic average value in daily use”, according to the organizers.

The truck had no extra weight per charge and managed to cover 1,099 kilometers on battery power just as the challenge began almost a day earlier.

The challenge has been met two drivers or pilots, alternating in driving 4 and a half hours. When they reached the turn 393, a battery charge alarm, indicated less than 2% remaining of electrical energy, therefore, knowing that they could not complete lap 393, it was decided to stop the truck in order not to completely discharge the battery and cause it unnecessary damage, and thus end the attempt that This was already a record for the Futuricum Electric FH.

This truck is a Volvo FH to which Futuricum performed a 100% model conversion electric. Weight 15.5 tons and has a battery with 680 kWh, capable of powering the electric motor of 500 kW / 680 hp. Since Futuricum expressed that in real use, this electric truck is able to travel approximately 400 kilometers on a single charge.

The speed was kept constant with light traffic on the bank, which allowed the truck not to force the steering around the bends of the 2.8 km oval. It also helped reduce consumption

The file was obtained from constant speed, without traffic or bad weather likely to affect its performance, and the weight of your load, although from the figures obtained it is believed to be really low, so that the 1,099 km looks more like a concept mark, like the one recorded a few weeks ago by the Mustang Mach-E in Great Britain. Good information to show the evolution of this technology, but very far from the reality of users, at least for the moment.
