The United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued a hurricane and storm surge warning for New York and the New England coast on Friday as Storm Henry strengthens in the Atlantic and is about to become a cyclone.

NHC meteorologists clarified that there is a hurricane warning for the south coast of Long Island (New York), since Entrance to the island of fire up to Pointe Montauk, as well as for the north coast, Port Jefferson Harbor up to Pointe de Montauk.

Henri is about to become a hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour, on its way to the New England coast.

It is located approximately 470 kilometers south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and 1,115 kilometers from Pointe Montauk, At New York.

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts the current Atlantic hurricane season will be above average in activity.

The government of Mexico launched on Friday a call for the population to be “very aware” of the next return of Hurricane Grace, that the day before he left the Yucatan peninsula and that he will arrive in Veracruz in the next few hours.
