New York to pay $ 100 to people vaccinated against COVID-19 starting this Friday

According to the most recent official data, 54.4% of New York’s population (around 8.3 million people) is fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, a percentage which rises to 65.5% if only adults are taken into account.

By Blasio, during a press conference, insisted that vaccination is the only way to guarantee the recovery of the city and defended the importance of this type of economic incentive to encourage all citizens.

“In city-run vaccination centers, when you take the first dose (…) you will receive $ 100”, underlined the mayor during the announcement of this program, which will begin on Friday.

New York had previously offered many incentives of all kinds to encourage vaccinations, that they have since included $ 5 million in raffles up to Free burgers and fries.

Cash delivery is also not new to the United States, as it has been used by other cities to bolster their immunization campaigns., in particular because of the slowdown observed in recent months, once the people most interested in protecting themselves had already received their doses.

In the last days, New York and other localities and states have also started issuing orders for city workers to get vaccinated. or, if they decline, undergo weekly covid-19 testing before advancement of the Delta variant, which causes a resurgence of infections with force.
