The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, announced Thursday an immediate ban on the purchase of badault rifles and semi-automatic rifles, in response to the Christchurch attack, in which 50 people died.
"I announce that New Zealand will ban all semi-automatic military-style weapons, we will also ban badault rifles"Ardern, which at the same time announced interim measures to prevent a flood of purchases before the new measures came into effect.

Ardern also announced the ban on high-capacity chargers and devices allowing faster firing. "In summary, all semi-automatic weapons used during Friday's terrorist attack will be banned in this country."
Fifty people were killed that day by Australian Brenton Tarrant, a self proclaimed white supremacy of 28 years, settled in two mosques in Christchurch, the main city of the South Island of New Zealand.
For weapons already acquired, Ardern has announced a buyback system that will cost between NZ $ 100 and 200 million ($ 69-139 million), depending on the quantity of weapons received.
Those who keep their weapons beyond the amnesty period will face fines of up to $ 4,000 and up to three years in prison.
