Márquez, whose place has not been known for more than a year, reappeared on August 29 in a video with other former leaders of this former guerrilla group to announce that they were entering a "new phase of the armed struggle".

"We must all remember that the enemies of the people imposed the conditions," Marquez said, adding that the "dominant power bloc" had violated the peace agreement between the government and the FARC.

That same Wednesday, the FARC (Alternative Forces of the Revolution) Party Ethics Committee asked the National Political Council of this bank to expel six former guerrilla leaders who had announced last week that they recovered their weapons, in particular Marquez, Santrich and El Paisa.
