The Secretary General of the OAS made these remarks after his meeting in Washington with the President of the OAS European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, who for his part declared "worried" about the situation in Nicaragua.

The Permanent Council of the OAS has begun to apply the principles Inter-American Democratic Charter in Nicaragua, which could end with its suspension of the continental body.
