This Saturday, the first local elections were held in Borno, in northern Nigeria. But the elections were stained with blood, because Boko Haram, one of the most formidable terrorist organizations in West Africa, slaughter at least 43 peasants and left them lying in a paddy field. It is a challenge open to the authorities and another chapter of the violent overflow led by this group which proclaims itself a jihadist.

Babakura Kolo, one of the leaders of a vigilante group, confirmed to AFP that in addition to the dead, there were six seriously injured. “Boko Haram operates in the region and frequently attacks farmers,” added the interviewee.
