Nito says his triumph is "irreversible" and asks the authorities to announce it

The presidential candidate of the Social Revolutionary Democratic Social Democratic Party (PRD), Laurentino Cortizo, said that his triumph in Sunday's elections in Panama is "irreversible" and asked the election body to already announce its close victory in front of Rómulo Roux.

"There are already more than 90% of the votes and that gives us more than 40 000 votes, it is irreversible, here there is a clear triumph (…) The time has come for the Electoral Court and magistrates to tell the country that won these elections, "Cortizo told reporters.

The businessman and former minister obtained 32.98% of the vote, 90.29% of the polling stations counted, against 31.08% of Roux, the Liberal MP Democratic Change (CD), who had previously reported irregularities and asked the magistrates not to pbad the call with the announcement of provisional results to the virtual winner.
