Francesco Forgione was born in 1887 in Pietrelcina, an Italian city, within a hardworking and believing family, which led him to enter the world of religion from an early age. His name was chosen by his mother in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. As a child, he began to have extraordinary encounters with the Virgin Mary, the Sacred Heart and with demons. Neighbors from his childhood claimed to have seen him fight “his own shadow”.

At only 8 years old, he began his religious career with the Capuchin friars, a branch of the Franciscans. In the Order which he adopted in the name of Magpie and he consecrated himself a priest in 1910. Orazio Forgione, his father, had to emigrate Argentina to pay for your child’s education. He lived in our country between 1910 and 1917.
