Paid $ 110,000 to kill an endangered goat

An American hunter was at the center of the controversy after killing a mountain goat of the species Astor Markhor in Pakistan threatened to disappear.

The man had to pay $ 110,000 for the authorities to allow him to hunt in the Himalayan region.

"It was an easy and tight shot and I am delighted to win this trophy," Kinsel told local media.

Far from realizing their actions, the hunter posted on Facebook a video of the expedition where he recounted how he had climbed the mountains of the Gilgit region, located in northern Pakistan.

On the images, you can see the moment when he deliberately decides to end the life of the goat, then pull the horns of the dead animal.

Of course, his actions sparked a wave of criticism in social networks: some Pakistanis wondered why it was legally forbidden to hunt Astor Markhor because it is the animal that represents his country; others have suggested that foreign tourists be taken to the area with exotic goats, but not killed, according to La Nación.

A species in danger

The population of Bengal goat horns has declined over the years due to illegal hunting, military action and deforestation. As a result, the preservation efforts of the species were reinforced in the 2011 reports, while it was known that there were only 2,500 copies left.
