Panamerican Project: From Ushuaia to Alaska in a Volkswagen Amarok

Volkswagen Argentina has presented at its Pacheco plant headquarters the Pan-American project, a project in which the German pilot Rainer Zietlow plans to break a new long-distance world record on the longest highway in the world. it extends over more than 22,500 kilometers. The route of this route crosses 14 countries from the American continent, from Alaska to Argentina.

Zietlow and his team already have previous experience with this challenge: in 2011, they created an 11-day and 17-hour mark aboard a Volkswagen Touareg and plan this time to reduce that record, now driving the car. 39, an Amarok V6 Comfortline produced in the Buenos Aires Plant of Pacheco.

The trip will begin in May with a crossing from Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego) to Dreadhorse (Alaska). In the capital of Tierra del Fuego, the pre-tour phase will begin and a symbolic gift will be presented that represents the fraternal relationship between the two cities. In mid-June, the crew will start the record by crossing the Dariénica jungle – between Panama and Colombia – in a regular cargo plane, as Pan American will be interrupted between the two countries.

The project also has its solidarity: by supporting social organizations such as "SOS Children's Villages", 15 cents per kilometer traveled will be donated to this international entity based in Goioere (Brazil).
