Panic for the shock of a galaxy that will end life on Earth | Chronic

A study conducted at the University of Durham, UK, revealed that a galaxy was approaching the Milky Way, that the collision would end life on Earth and that the consequences of this impact would awaken a black hole.

The Great Magellanic Cloud, one of the satellite galaxies in orbit around the Milky Way, would collide with it.

Scientists determined that the satellite contained almost twice as much dark matter as expected and predicted that it would impact our galaxy by 2 billion years ago. Previously, it was thought that a similar phenomenon would occur in 8 million years.

The main author of the study, Marius Cautun, said the collision of the great magellanic cloud with the Milky Way, "It would unleash a black hole that would turn our galaxy into an active galactic core."

He added: "This phenomenon will generate high-energy radiation, the black hole will consume the circulating gas, increase its size and push the solar system out of the Milky Way."
