Panthers CB Ross Cockrell (left leg) removed

The Carolina Panthers could be without a key addition off season for the defense for a while.

Cornerback Ross Cockrell who joined the Panthers for a two-year free will contract was removed from the field on Monday with a left-leg injury, reported Joe Person of Charlotte Observer [19659002]. Cockrell shouted, " My leg is broke ."

With Daryl Worley now with the Philadelphia Eagles, Cockrell was supposed to compete for a starting job in front of James Bradberry.

While the Panthers have Bradberry, rookie Donte Jackson, Corn Elder and Lorenzo Doss, among others, on the lineup, the team's depth at the corner half will be tested if Cockrell lacks time . Cockrell started 32 games over his four-year career.
