Paraguay registered 106 killed in one day, the highest number since the start of the pandemic, with which the number of people who have died from the coronavirus in the country rose to 6.302, according to the report released this Thursday by the Ministry of Health.

In the last hours, 2695 new infections, bringing the total number of positive cases to 276,865 since March 2020.

The number of hospitalized for coronavirus stood at 3049 patients, including 526 in intensive care. As for the recovered, 1981 conquered the disease, as reported by the health portfolio, and the total number stands at 227,540 people.

Since Tuesday, the country has been in a new period of mobility and social activity restrictions, which will last until May 10, with the intention of mitigating the spread of the virus.

The government has already taken a similar decision during Holy Week, although health authorities later acknowledged that the measures had not had the expected impact on infection numbers.

Regarding vaccines, Paraguay surpassed 100,000 vaccinated against coronavirus this Thursday, with 100,654 people having received at least one dose, two months after the start of the vaccination plan.

The South American country, of seven million inhabitants, has started to vaccinate its health workers and is now in the phase of vaccinating the elderly, for the moment, in people over 75 years of age.
