Those numbers exceeded the peaks recorded the week before, of 16 to 22, which reached 18,711 cases and 701 deaths.

Since last Friday, Paraguay has been at the top of the list that the statistics portal Our World in Data establishes with death rates from the coronavirus around the world.

In addition, in the first 29 days of this month, the country racked up 71,536 infections and 2,602 deaths, and shifted the records set in April with 64,410 and 2,179, respectively.

Likewise, in May, the number of deaths recorded between March and December 2020 was exceeded, at 2,262.

However, since May 20, the barrier of 3,000 daily infections has been exceeded six times, and since April 21 the limit of 100 daily deaths has been exceeded seven times.

The numbers declined slightly in the past 24 hours, when 2,429 infections and 95 deaths were reported, bringing the totals to 350,613 and 8,987, respectively, since the start of the pandemic.
